Update (5/21/20): Thank you for your patience and support during this public health crisis. As businesses and organizations throughout Ohio begin to reopen this month, Adams County Public Library is preparing to bring back some library services, as we’re able. We miss you and want to provide as much service as possible, while still assuring the health and safety of the staff and the community. We hope to have direction from a research group headed by Batelle soon that will enable us to restart services at our physical locations sometime during June. More information on this research partnership can be found here: https://www.webjunction.org/explore-topics/COVID-19-research-project.html.
Specifically, we would begin with re-opening our drive-thru and book drops as well as provide curbside service. However, our buildings will remain closed to the public until circumstances allow us to move into the next phase. The safety of our patrons and staff is our highest priority. We have received guidance from the Ohio Library Council to proceed cautiously with a phased-in approach. The specific timing of bringing back drive-thru and curbside service will depend on several factors, including guidance from local, state, and national health officials and the availability of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for our staff, as well as adequate guidance on the safety of our operating procedures.
In the meantime, our e-library services are open for business! Checkout Hoopla and OverDrive for E-books, audiobooks, etc. Look to our website, adamscolibrary.org, for e-reference, e-research, and e-learning services, such as Chilton Library, Ancestry Library Edition, and Lynda.com. Look to Facebook for Virtual Storytime, Read-Aloud YA, and enriching, inspiring, educational and informational posts. Listen to C103, Monday through Friday, at 9:50 a.m. for Radio Readers, during which Adams County, Brown County, and Union Township library staff read stories and poems.
And, we’re currently planning for an online-only version of the Summer Reading Program, using the Beanstack reading tracking site and app, with more details to come.
We’ll share more information about bringing back services as soon as we can, and we’ll continue to keep you informed through our website, and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
