Policies and Services

Library Card Policy
  • Anyone living in or employed in Ohio can stop by the library to sign up for a free library account. Please bring a photo ID with your correct address, or a piece of mail showing your address. Children under 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian to sign up for a library card.
  • Children under 18 not accompanied by their parent or legal guardian may sign up for a limited library card, eligible to borrow up to 5 items at once.
  • Anyone traveling or not resident in Ohio is welcome to use the library as a guest.
  • We ask that you present your library card or photo ID at the desk when you borrow items, for your protection.
  • If you lose your library card, you can purchase a replacement card for $1.00.
  • Anyone may sign up for an online-only library card through the Online Catalog. Convert your online-only card to a full privileges library card at any time by visiting an Adams County Public Library with your photo ID, and signing the borrower agreement.
Borrowing Library Materials
  • DVDs are loaned for 7 days. Borrow up to 5 DVDs at once.
  • Books and other items are loaned for 21 days.
  • Call the library to renew borrowed items for an additional loan period. Items can be renewed up to 4 times, unless another patron is waiting to borrow that item.
  • Return items in the book return window when the library is closed. You can return items at any Adams County Library.
Internet and Computer Use
  • The library provides computers with Internet access for public use, as well as free open wireless Internet. Any adult, and any child whose parent has signed a permission form, may use the library’s computers.
  • Don’t have a library card? Just ask for a guest pass at the desk! Photo identification required.
  • Computer use sessions are one hour in length, and may be continued if no other patrons are waiting to use a computer.
  • The Adams County Public Library complies with CIPA , by content filtering all Internet access available through the library. However, the library is not responsible for your use of public computers and Internet access.
