All Adams County Public Library locations will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25 and all locations will be closed on Thursday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Have a safe and happy holiday!

For preschoolers and young school children, we’re excited to announce our newest program: Storytime to Go! For this program, we have created themed storytime kits that are designed to recreate the interactive storytime experience in your own home. Each kit contains 4 picture books, some craft supplies, an activity, and a storytime guide, which features a song and action rhyme along with craft and activity instructions. Available themes include dinosaurs, zoo animals, shapes, fairy tales, and many more, so you’re sure to find a theme that is perfect for you and your family. To check out a kit for up to 1 week, simply visit your local library branch to see which storytime kits are available. The North Adams Library Adult Book Club will meet virtually on Thursday, November 19 to discuss “The Daughter’s Tale” by Armando Lucas Correa. This historical fiction novel follows the perilous tale of Amanda Sternberg and her daughter Elise Duval, whose lives were both upset drastically when German Nazis split up their family during War World II. Seventy years later, Elise discovers letters from her estranged mother, uncovering secrets long buried about the impossible decisions she’d had to make. To discover what happens in this intriguing novel, you can access the eBook and digital audiobook on Overdrive by logging in using your library card and PIN. Library Resource Spotlight: If you enjoy watching movies, be sure to check out Kanopy! This free video streaming service gives you access to more than 30,000 independent films and documentaries, allowing you to watch up to 10 films per month. You’ll also find children’s shows, Great Courses videos, History channel specials, and many more! To start streaming on your phone, tablet, computer, or smart TV, simply log in using your library card and PIN.

Don’t forget to turn in your reading logs for our Merry Money 2020 Holiday Reading Program by Friday, November 20! All physical logs must be turned in to your local library by this date, or, if you signed up on Beanstack, all books must be logged by November 20 in order to be eligible for prizes from our Santa Shop. Our online Santa Shop will open on our website on Tuesday, December 1 for children to browse gifts within their price range.

Remember, all Adams County Public Library locations offer a weekly Curbside After School Meal Program for children, ages 18 and under. Each child will receive a bag of seven balanced meals for the week, which children as well as parents and caregivers can pick up. These free meals are available for pickup from 3:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at the West Union Library on Mondays, the Peebles Library on Tuesdays, the North Adams Library on Wednesdays, and the Manchester Library on Thursdays. To pick up your meals, please call the library upon your arrival and state the child’s name. The meals for this program are provided by the Children’s Hunger Alliance.
