National Friends of Libraries Week takes place each October. The Adams County Public Library appreciates the generous support and commitment of the Friends organizations that benefit each of Adams County’s local libraries.
Friends of the West Union Library
The Friends of the West Union Library are actively seeking new members. Call to join us in supporting the annual Summer Reading program, special services at the library, and more. There are openings to serve through leadership, and membership requires a low time commitment. Past projects have included a popular Book Sale in the West Union Library auxiliary building. To learn more, please call the library at 937-544-2591, and the Friends President Betsy Miskell will return your call.
Friends of the Manchester Library
The Friends of the Manchester Library hold a popular Book Sale in the library’s auxiliary building on the first Saturday of each month from May through October. Proceeds raised from the book sale, along with donations, help support special events and services at the Manchester Library. In 2017, the Manchester Friends helped fund new benches that welcome library visitors in front of the building.
The Manchester Friends are glad to welcome new members. Join President Kathy Stacy, Secretary Susan Young, and Treasurer Nancy Jones, and the rest of the Friends in supporting the Manchester Library. To learn more, contact the Friends at email@example.com, or call the library at 937-549-3359 to leave a message for the Friends.
Friends of the North Adams Library
The Friends of the North Adams Library were instrumental in helping to build the new North Adams Public Library building on Moores Road in Seaman. The new building, located next to the high school and Adams County Regional Medical Center, opened in October 2013, and serves the Seaman, Winchester, and Cherry Fork area. Stop by the new library, and see a list of donors that have helped support the Friends and the new library, acknowledged by name in the lobby.
Friends of the North Adams Library sponsor a military brick tribute project, installed by the surrounding the flagpole in front of the North Adams Library, to honor United States service members. Anyone who wishes to honor a U.S. service member or veteran can sponsor a military tribute brick, inscribed with the service member’s name, branch and dates of service, to be installed under the flagpole. For more information, contact Adams County Veterans Services at 937-544-5005, or reach the Friends of the North Adams Library by calling the North Adams Library at 937-386-2556. To sponsor a military tribute brick, complete this form and submit it to the Friends of the North Adams Library.
